Steelhouse is a new publisher whose first work aims to bridge the gap between a collection of short stories - moreish but ultimately, for most readers, unsatisfying - and the novel. We try to do this by bringing the two forms together as (ta da!)  the short story novel.

Of course, it's been done before. Eudora Welty's Golden Apples of the Sun has been described as a 'short story cycle in which the parts are so closely related as to constitute a sort of loose novel'. Hemingway's In Our Time and Faulkner's Go Down Moses are similarly books of inter-related stories that become a whole on completion.

We have published this first work, by our author Paula Steel, rather like a TV series - individual episodes can be consumed as Kindle eBooks or you can take the whole book with you as a paperback or in Kindle format to immerse yourself in wherever your reading takes you, be it bed, bath, commute or beach.
